Mental Health Issues, I.Q. and Social Security Disability

One of the areas which is frequently visited in developing a Social Security Disability claim are mental health issues in general; IQ Scores in particular.  Many claimants will have an IQ which will contribute to or allow them to get disability if the IQ can be accurately measured.  Unfortunately, the vast majority of claimants who are educationally deficient have not had an IQ test or at least not one recently.  To further complicate the matter, the current regulations concerning disability based upon IQ are based upon values from an IQ test that is no longer given.  Mental Health Professionals have a new test that is numerically different from the one listed by the Social Security Administration for showing disability.  Supposedly, the Social Security Administration is currently revamping the mental health guidelines to accommodate the new testing methods, however, they have NOT done so to date.  At Drummond Law, LLC., we try to integrate the new testing and correlate it to meet the requirements of the old regulations written in reference to the prior testing procedure.
